Volunteer With Us

At Valkyrie’s Kindred Keep, our volunteers are an essential part of the heart of our program.
The work we do with horses, children, families, and individuals of all abilities is made possible through the support of kind, steady, and compassionate people who feel called to serve alongside the herd.
Volunteering with us is more than helping with lessons or chores. It is an opportunity to be part of a horse-honoring community rooted in presence, patience, connection, and care.
Whether you have years of horse experience or are just beginning your journey with horses, there may be a place for you here.
How Volunteers Support the Program
Volunteers may assist with:
-
Side walking during adaptive sessions
-
Leading horse during sessions
-
Grooming and preparing horses
-
Supporting participants before, during, or after sessions
-
Helping with barn and ranch care
-
Assisting with events, programs, and community outreach
-
Offering general support to help the day flow safely and smoothly
Additional traning is provided, and volunteers are never asked to do anything they have not been prepared for.

Volunteer Orientation
Volunteer Orientation is held on the last Saturday of every month from 10:00–11:00 AM.
Orientation is the first step for new volunteers and includes an introduction to our program, our herd, basic safety expectations, and the many ways volunteers can support our mission.
Volunteer Shifts
As our program grows, our volunteer schedule will continue to evolve.
Current volunteer shifts are generally offered during the following times:
Morning Shift:
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Afternoon Shift:
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
These shift times are flexible and may vary depending on the program schedule, weather, events, and the needs of the herd.
Age Requirement
Volunteers must generally be 16 years or older.
Younger volunteers may be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on horse
experience, maturity, and whether they are accompanied by an adult during their shift.
No horse experience? That's Okay.
Horse experience is helpful, but it is not required for every volunteer role.
What matters most is a willingness to learn, listen, follow safety guidelines, and show up with kindness, patience, and respect for both people and horses.

Join Our Volunteer Community
If you feel called to support this work, we would love to meet you.
Your time, presence, and care help create a safe and supportive space for our participants and
our horses. Together, we can continue building a program where connection, confidence, and
belonging are nurtured through the way of the horse.
