Valkyrie Equine Experiences is an Equine Assisted Services program that provides an opportunity for experiential learning, self-reflection, and personal growth with the guidance of a certified facilitator and support of the horse.

Qualifications & Education

Marina holds several different certifications in the field of Equine Assisted Services. She has her certifications in EAL (Equine Assisted Learning), ESMHL (Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning), and CTRI (Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor).

A Letter from Marina

Hello friends, my name is Marina.  I am a lifelong horsewoman and animal lover.  When I was seven I started taking formal riding lessons and from that moment on horses have always been in my life in some capacity.  As a child I was extremely shy and insecure.  I found comfort and solace in my long days at the barn with horses and the pets we had at home.  I am forever grateful to my mom and dad who nourished my love of animals and said yes to every stray I brought home.  My work with horses has been and will continue to be an evolution.  Starting out exercising horses for free after high school, to becoming a veterinary technician, riding instructor, therapeutic riding instructor, and now focusing on unmounted work with horse as my partner.

Through my life experiences,  relationships with animals, and mindfulness practices I learned life skills that assisted me in navigating this world.  These experiences helped me to build resilience, discover my strengths so that I could thrive,  and nourished my natural empathetic way of being.  I believe we learn through experiences and our program is founded on that.  My gift is to share this with others so that they may grow their authentic selves and discover their hearts' purpose.  It’s never too soon or too late to start!

Meet the Horses

Valkyrie Equine Experiences has an amazing herd of horses to work with! They each bring something very special to the program. In addition we have other animals that Marina is able to incorporate in a session if appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of clothing should I wear?
    Close-toed shoes are required, long pants recommended.
  • Will we be riding?
    Valkyrie Equine Experiences is an unmounted Equine Assisted Learning program. No riding is included.
  • Do I have to have horse experience to participate?
    No horse experience is needed to participate in the program. Just an open heart and open mind!
  • Why horses?
    Horses reflect human emotions, behaviors, and attitudes. Horses recognize incongruencies between what is going on inside us (emotion) and what we show on the outside (behavior). Horses are very sensitive to nonverbal cues, relying on energy and body language as their primary source of communication. This helps us become more self aware and intentional. Horses have an incredible ability to self regulate. Horses work as a team in the herd. Everyone is important! Horses live in the present moment. Horses are biofeedback instruments. Horses are sensitive, sentient beings. Horses' hearts have a stronger and larger electromagnetic field than that of humans.
