Adaptable Horsemanship & Equine-Assisted Learning

Valkyrie Equine Experiences offers individualized adaptable horsemanship and equine-assisted learning experiences for participants served by Tri-Counties Regional Center.

Our program is educational, experiential, and skill-based. Sessions are designed to meet each participant where they are, with activities adapted to their individual abilities, interests, and goals.

Learning Experiences

Participants learn alongside the horses through a combination of mounted and unmounted horsemanship activities, which may include:

  • Grooming, tacking, and horse care

  • Leading and safe horse handling

  • Groundwork and obstacle activities

  • Learning about horse behavior and communication

  • Riding and foundational horsemanship skills

  • Ranch-based learning and responsibility

  • Communication and problem-solving

  • Following directions and sequencing tasks

  • Building confidence, independence, and self-awareness

  • Developing connection, trust, and respect through working with the horse

Every participant and every session is different. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where individuals can learn new skills, experience meaningful connection with the horses, and grow through hands-on participation.

The horses are respected as individual partners in the learning experience, and activities are always approached with consideration for both the participant and the horse.

Regional Center Funding

Valkyrie Equine Experiences works with families and Tri-Counties Regional Center to provide authorized horsemanship and equine-assisted learning services.

Services funded through Tri-Counties Regional Center must be authorized through the participant’s Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Service Coordinator.

Regional Center pricing is separate from our private-pay pricing and is based on the authorized service and applicable approved vendor rate.

If you are interested in participating through Tri-Counties Regional Center, please speak with your Service Coordinator about including adaptable horsemanship or equine-assisted learning as part of your services.
